Writing Tips - Part 1

Hi to all my followers of this blog, writers, readers, publishers, and anyone else,

Many of us allow others to influence our writing. They offer their opinions, reflect on what they would like, and they make you want to please them. It's not about them. It's about you! Therefore, here are the first writing tips you can live by ...

Write All The Time - just write wherever you are and have available time, even if it is plain rubbish. Never stop writing. It will fall into place later.

Read Often - reading is great, therefore make time for it.

Write What You Want To Write - don't write what everyone else expects you to write. Write from your own heart and not theirs. Don't let their opinions or inputs shape your writing. Criticism comes later.

That's it for today. Enjoy!

The Writing Process Example

Hi Readers, Writers/Authors and All,

Once again, I decided to add another post as it is on my Facebook author page as well. I keep both my FB author page and this blog updated with the same info where possible. So see attached, a writing process method you can use to help with your writing...  Enjoy!

A Page To Follow for Writers

Hi Folks, Writers/Authors and Readers,

I am quiet at the moment as my business is keeping me busy and not much time for this hobby of mine, although I try and stay on top of things as often as possible. Here is a wonderful page to follow, an inspiring author and all about books you may enjoy. It is on Facebook only...

Soon I'm adding reviews to 2 more books I'm busy reading and making notes as I go along. It will be happening shortly; one in the next two/three days... The Cleaner by Mark Dawson.

Words & Voices 2

As I did start with the first post on this subject, here it goes once more. Here are more words that describe a character's voice, or tone of voice, when writing and describing who they are at that point in time. This may just help you...

1] Apathetic - someone who shows little interest, lacking any concern, never emotional.
2] Ardent - someone who is passionate about something, or enthusiastic.
3] Arrogant - someone who is pompous, disdainful or overbearing.
4] Awestruck - very amazed, filled with wonder.
5] Barbed - someone who is deliberately hurtful, with no remorse or care.
6] Barking - uttering a command or questioning abruptly, or is aggressive.
7] Benevolent - someone who is tolerant, sympathetic, quite generous.
8] Bleak - without hope or encouragement; a "party pooper".
9] Bombastic - someone who inflates everything they say or do, but no meaning to it.
10] Brash - who is self-assertive in a rude, noisy or overbearing way.
11] Breezy - appearing relaxed, an informal person, and cheerily brisk.
12] Brittle - lacking warmth, sensitivity or compassion.
13] Burbling - speaking in an unintelligible or silly way.
14] Callous - Never cares, no feelings for anyone, and ruthless.
15] Caustic - someone who makes biting, corrosive comments; always critical.

And that's it for now. More will follow in due course as the week progresses. Enjoy! Keep on writing and publish that best ever book...

Something About Writing

Just to get 2018 to a great start, here is something you may just enjoy.

I posted this on my FB author page and decided it must go here as well. Very helpful when you want to know more about what a paragraph is, what a page is, a book, novel, etc. Enjoy!

2018 - Time To Start Again - Words And Voices

Hi to all my fellow authors, publishers and readers.

I'm back from the holidays and ready to start this year with a bang. Be watchful and view new reviews coming soon as well as new articles as I go along on this year's journey. Find below some tips on words describing someone's voice or tone of voice... I'll continue with this list in due time as I have quite a longish list to mention. These help you when writing your book, and improving on how your characters are "seen" in the story.

1] Abrasive - A harsh person, showing little concern for the feelings of others.
2] Absurd - someone who is illogical, unreasonable or inappropriate.
3] Acerbic - He/she is sharp and forthright.
4] Admiring - someone who approves, thinks highly of, and who praises.
5] Acidic - someone who is harsh or very critical.
6] Accusatory - always complaining and blaming others for everything.
7] Aggrieved - is hostile and determined. Is forceful and argumentative.
8] Airy - acting like they are not concerned, and never serious.
9] Amused - always entertains, always joyful and pleasant.
10] Angry - incensed or enraged. Is threatening or menacing.
11] Animated - full of life and excited about many things. Is lively or spirited.
12] Anxious - typically with a feeling of unease; always uneasy.

That's it for now. Watch this space for the next lot of words. Enjoy!
