Writing Tips - Part 3
Go For A Walk - there are times when we sit down to write and get so busy that time flies by. Then it happens! You arrive at a dead end and don't know what to pen next. Go and enjoy nature somewhere, take that break and chill. Go for a walk around your neighbourhood [if it is safe to do so though], and just let your mind relax and clear it from all the knots in it. Maybe get inspired afresh during this break, then get back to your manuscript once more. It does help!
Look At Harsh Critiques - use all this feedback, whether good or bad, sometimes just feeling like it hurts you more, and do something about your writing, maybe your cover design. I had plenty of crits who lifted me up and many that broke me down badly after my latest cover design of a book being published soon. I used all this feedback. But don't let this worry you at all. Remain positive, no matter what comes your way. I did!
It Will Never Be Perfect - and finally on this topic of tips, you will never be perfect in everything, even if you try. Someone told me that they redesigned a cover of their one book to see if it improved sales or more crit. The gent told me it made no difference in sales and no one mentioned a word about the cover. I know of books with some lousy covers that went viral and have made huge amounts of sales. Never strive for perfection. Don't strive for fame or greatness either. It never helps but slows you down. Just write. Finally, NEVER GIVE UP. Keep your mind and pen on that grinding wheel and keep moving forward.
