Great Writing Tips

Writing a book is not an easy task, and these stories and helpful tips found in various social media areas about writing a book in under 30 days and so on is plain rubbish, unless it is a booklet, with say 50 to 100 pages. Still, the proofreading needs to take place, editing and maybe some formatting. Here are some simple tips that are more realistic.

1] Never think about the end of the book, the finishing of the book. It could be 300 or more pages long..., but write one page a day, or maybe two, then when you have completed your book it will feel good.

2] Just write and don't stop to fix mistakes, spelling, or look at tenses or paragraph styles/sizes/etc. Every time you stop to make changes its like you do not want to reach the end. Keep on writing until your done, then only, go back and start editing, fixing and changing where you see fit todo so. Leave the proofreading, editing, formnatting for thr end. This is what motivates you to write and complete your book.

3] When you get stuck at a specific scene or storyline along the writing journey, and it looks all out of place, just skip it for the moment and move on with what's in your head, and write the rest of the story. When done, return to the incomplete section and then reread and rewrite when it all comes together in your mind and heart. Writing from the heart always points you in the correct direction.

4] When writing in dialogue form, don't just write but speak it out aloud. In this way your story comes "alive" and you can just feel it in your mind. This will offer you a "sound of speech" sense and will make you feel like you are a part of the storyline and the characters.

That's it for now. I trust these few tips will offer you some enlightment and open up your mind and thoughts when writing. Enjoy the authorship journey. Until the next time, Au Revoir !!!

Latest Book Review by Brandon W. Lawson

Hashtag This by Brandon W. Lawson

Brandon has a touch to bring life events and reality into play by showing it in poetry form. His style is quite unique and very interesting to read. I did quite enjoy the poems he wrote, all related to hashtag lists seen in Twitter. Although the last few poems are not “hashtagged” titles, his style was something worth reading, very inviting and I was quite surprised how won becomes entranced in his poetic form.

I found this book well worth the read and did enjoy following “life events” as portrayed in his poems. Although I’m not a poem type of guy, it was still interesting and nothing boring about it. I did however discover that it was much related to the USA life and therefore some of the “political” poems did not touch home for me. Still, I give this book 5 star rating as it is still enjoyable. Well done Brandon on your poetry and bringing living to life.

Book Review ... by Nasreen Variyawa

A Review ... Ignite the Champion Within & Inspire Others to Begin ... by Nasreen Variyawa

Nasreen wrote a very thorough book here, a book that is a self-empowering and self-uplifting book for those struggling through issues in life. I found it very inspiring to read with many anecdotes and her thoughts translated into words and sentences, making sense and guiding us into looking into our inner selves. The book is long in the sense of the many chapters [if one may call them such], each dedicated to a specific topic which touched Nasreen herself.

As a Christian and an author and reviewer, I read this book with a neutral mind and understood what she was bringing across to those seeking something greater, more success and a better future. This book is truly wonderful that you can relate to each chapter topic she wrote about; and yes, there were areas which touched my heart, taking me back to my times in life where I needed some inspiration and aspiration. I enjoyed this book and read through it quite fast, still picking up the pointers and facts which triggered my mind and thoughts.

I therefore rate this book with 5 stars as it is truly worth the read. It does take you on a journey of self-discovery and offers you plenty of insight to point you in the direction of success, growth and becoming a better person. Well done! I love the formatting and the feel of each page layout, etc. Congrats Nasreen!

Book Review - authored by Elizabeth O'Neill

A Broken Shell Of A Man ... by Elizabeth O'Neill

A difficult book to read as I’m not totally acquainted with the Scottish lingo and slang terms used, but I got it when reading the complete sentences. Now for the review and my thoughts on this book … The story revolves around the life of Peggy Eggar, a one-legged lady who lost her leg due to a reckless driver in a car. She is married to Gregg Eggar and her family, the Leggs, are well-known. She runs a café. I found it very difficult to see any plot in the story. The book mostly centred around Peggy and the life she led.
Although this book is well written, especially to those folks who understand the Scottish lifestyle, and real English folks that will be able to follow it, this book will be difficult to understand under other countries and cultures. This book is aimed more directly for the readers of that country and culture, who “see” the story and can follow it, but without a real plot, I find it way off from the general reader population. I am still reasonable and give Elizabeth’s book a 3,5 star rating. Some reviewers may offer much less, and some higher ratings. I feel left out of the story when I read it and at some stages very bored because I could not really see the outline of the story in the book. Still, well written for the folks who truly understand the Scottish culture.
