A difficult book to read as I’m not totally acquainted
with the Scottish lingo and slang terms used, but I got it when reading the
complete sentences. Now for the review and my thoughts on this book … The story
revolves around the life of Peggy Eggar, a one-legged lady who lost her leg due
to a reckless driver in a car. She is married to Gregg Eggar and her family,
the Leggs, are well-known. She runs a café. I found it very difficult to see
any plot in the story. The book mostly centred around Peggy and the life she
led.
Although this book is well written, especially to
those folks who understand the Scottish lifestyle, and real English folks that
will be able to follow it, this book will be difficult to understand under
other countries and cultures. This book is aimed more directly for the readers
of that country and culture, who “see” the story and can follow it, but without
a real plot, I find it way off from the general reader population. I am still
reasonable and give Elizabeth’s book a 3,5 star rating. Some reviewers may
offer much less, and some higher ratings. I feel left out of the story when I
read it and at some stages very bored because I could not really see the
outline of the story in the book. Still, well written for the folks who truly
understand the Scottish culture.Coming soon! Another book review written by Nasreen Variyawa... Watch this blog...
